Manila: When Will Be The Change?

A number of stuck vehicles exceeded due to the persistence of heavy traffic in Manila a while ago. We are heading to my brother's university but we are so unlucky as we passed by a traffic nearby Manila. (I won't say the road anymore).

Seeing the existence of the things around me is quite sad on my part as I witnessed a boy snatching a cellphone from an innocent person patiently sitting in a public vehicle. People—including the riders of private vehicles showed their worries but has nothing to do with it. I was also worried and I got a little bit nervous because of what I've spotted earlier.

With that, I expressed anxiety by saying rude words without anyone hearing it. "What ifs" questions about the victim formed in my mind. What if he/she is a student striving hard for her future? What if he/she came from a bare-living standard? What if he/she was just asked by someone to meet with them? What if he/she has so many memories kept in the phone? An innocent person was a victim of the impertinence of that street child!

Things happened everywhere. Accidents are following us. Even our safe awareness has nothing to do if it happened already. Everywhere, there is an unexpected occurrence of incident. In your house, someone might enter there stealing your personal things. In a private car, someone might break those mirrored windows and steal everything! Just walking on a street, someone might steal your existence... And that's the reality. Even if we're alert, even if we're aware, we aren't always safe. That's what people should see—to open their eyes to reality.

Being me, I always wanted to donate money to beggars, give them happiness, and educate them but I can't. Not only because I'm still a student and don't have much money but also I am scared that they'd abuse their blessings. They'll use it for drugs and be a drug-addict—which has a large number of cases, buy cigarettes that would destroy their lungs, and sometimes use the money given to them to a bad habit. It's hard. It's really hard to trust people. Can't they really see? Can't you see how an innocent person became a victim?

Everywhere has an accident. Everywhere has an unexpected circumstances. Every victim will be trapped in fear, and it benefits the criminal. It's sad to face the real world. It's sad how the poor ruins a rich's life. Not all homeless and helpless people are stealing. Not all rich people are victims. What's with them? Is this a country of stealing? Because of those robbers, we, Filipinos, are known as a harmful people. That's sad. That lowers our dignity.

When will be the change? This coming political election, will there be changes? Will they focus more on the homeless people? Will they educate the impertinent human-beings?

When can I safely walk the streets? When can I take public transportations safely? When can be the change? When can I live without doubts?

••

This is to express the thoughts of a teenager and has nothing to do against the politics and the whole country.
