Jose Rizal is the most recognized hero in the Philippines. In fact, his name was made famous worldwide because of his great stand for the Filipinos. As a reminiscence of Rizal's death, in December 30, 1913, his monument named “Motto Stella” was built in Manila. Buildings that are related to Rizal were constructed within the sight of Luneta Park where his monument is located. Tourists visit the Luneta Park as they step on the Philippines and are pleased to witness how Filipinos commemorate Rizal's death. Presently speaking, issues about the continuous construction of “Torre de Manila” was spread nationwide and being talked about by the historians. To the minds of young and innocent kids, this isn't a big issue yet it is a matter for concerned citizens. Cutting off the issue is a challenge for the involved civilian due to these reasons: a growing number of people provides their stand against the issue, the continuous protest of historians, and the demand for right of the building's investor.
Hearing my own opinion, I could say that Rizal's monument is memorable to us especially to a student like me who walks by Luneta Park oftentimes but I'm able to feel stunned as we passed by Luneta Park and spot the so-called "photobomber" of Rizal's monument. As a student, my mind overflowed with questions that anyone could answer but still has no solution. “Who would win the case if both monument and condominium has their right to their property?,” a question that circles my mind. I'm kind of afraid to speak against the construction of "Torre de Manila" but that was my thought and everyone could have a freedom to be heard. Rizal's facing the ocean shows his protection to his country and his monument's location lasts over a hundred years and yet people wanted to destroy it. Though the investor of the condominium has a strong stand, there's still a case before where many companies attempt to build up a building behind the Luneta Park but lost. For everyone's contentment, Torre de Manila should give way to the importance of history by reconstructing their building and lessen the number of floors with the support from the government. The issue would be undone if they continue their rivalry. This is the best solution I thought of. I therefore say that if the historians won by the past, then that may happen in the present. Dr. Jose Rizal's death is still a remark as a Filipino.
